米紙ウォールストリートジャーナルは、令和を「"rei," which can mean auspicious（縁起が良い） in traditional texts, and "wa" meaning peace（平和）.」と、米ブルームバーグ通信は、「 "order（秩序）," and "peace（平和）" or "harmony（調和）"」と訳した。

英ガーディアン紙は、「TV commentators struggled to offer a direct translation」と英訳に難儀していると伝えた。その上で、「"decree（政令）" and "peace."」としている。

英BBCは「order and harmony」と訳しており、日本のSNSでは「かっこいい」「令和で正解だった」との声が上がっている。
